Honor launched the Play 70C in Pakistan on 12 March 2025 for Rs. 58,999 (USD 214). This 5G handset is aimed at gamers and everyday users who want smooth scrolling, fast charging, and solid cameras without breaking the bank. We spent a week with the device to see how it holds up in real-world use.

Design & Build

The Play 70C feels sturdy in hand thanks to its plastic frame and glossy back. It weighs 192 g and measures 163.5 x 75.8 x 8.4 mm, so it’s not too heavy for long gaming sessions. The phone comes in three colors: Black, Blue, and Silver. The power button and volume rocker are on the right side, while the USB-C port and 3.5mm jack sit at the bottom. The back has a subtle texture that resists fingerprints better than most glossy finishes.

Display

The 6.74-inch IPS LCD screen runs at a 120Hz refresh rate and supports 1080p resolution. Brightness peaks at 550 nits, which is bright enough for outdoor use but not as vivid as AMOLED panels. Colors are punchy, with warm tones that make videos and games pop. The 120Hz mode smooths out scrolling and gaming, though you can drop to 60Hz to save battery. Touch sampling is 180Hz, so fast swipes register instantly.

Performance

Under the hood, the Play 70C packs the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. In benchmarks, it scored around 420,000 on AnTuTu and 2,300 on Geekbench 6, placing it just below mid-range chips like the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. Gaming tests showed it handles titles like PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile at high settings with 50-55 fps on average. The phone stays cool during extended sessions, though the back can get warm after heavy use.

Camera

The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. Photos taken in daylight are sharp with good detail, but low-light shots are noisy and lack clarity. The 8MP front camera takes decent selfies in good light, though HDR can over-saturate colors. Video recording is capped at 1080p/30fps, with no stabilization beyond basic EIS. Expect average results unless you’re shooting in bright conditions.

Battery

The 6,500mAh battery easily lasts two days of mixed use—web browsing, social media, and light gaming. On a full charge, we got around 12 hours of screen-on time with 5G enabled. The phone supports 35W fast charging, which fills the battery from 0 to 100% in about 75 minutes. A 5W charger is included in the box, so you’ll need to buy a 35W adapter separately if you want the fastest speeds.

Verdict

The Honor Play 70C is a solid budget 5G phone for gamers and casual users who prioritize battery life and a smooth display over camera quality. Its 120Hz screen and Dimensity 6300 chipset deliver responsive performance, while the 6,500mAh battery keeps it running for days. The cameras are mediocre, and the plastic build won’t impress flagship fans, but for Rs. 58,999, it’s a strong value pick. If you need a reliable daily driver with long battery life and 5G, the Play 70C is worth considering.
