It targets young users and first-time 5G buyers who want a smooth display and solid camera without breaking the bank. We spent two weeks with the device to see if it justifies its price tag.

Design & Build

The Sparx S6 feels sturdy in hand thanks to its plastic frame and matte back, which resists fingerprints. It weighs 188 grams and measures 163.5 x 76.2 x 8.1 mm—slightly thicker than most rivals but comfortable to hold. The phone comes in three colors: Black, Blue, and Silver. The power button doubles as a fingerprint scanner, and the volume keys are responsive. The SIM tray supports dual SIMs and a microSD card up to 1TB, a rare feature at this price.

Display

The star of the Sparx S6 is its 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels). Brightness peaks at 800 nits, making it readable even in direct sunlight. Colors are punchy and warm, ideal for videos and gaming. The 120Hz mode smooths scrolling and animations, though you can drop to 60Hz to save battery. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Performance

Under the hood, the Sparx S6 runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. In real-world use, apps open quickly, and multitasking is smooth. The phone handled PUBG Mobile at high settings with 50-55 FPS, and Genshin Impact ran at 40-45 FPS on medium settings. The Dimensity 6300 is efficient enough for daily tasks, but heavy gamers might notice occasional thermal throttling after prolonged sessions. The phone runs Android 14 with Sparx’s custom UI, which is clean and bloat-free.

Camera

The main camera is a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, paired with a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens. In daylight, photos are detailed with accurate colors, though dynamic range is limited. Low-light shots are decent but noisy, and the lack of OIS means handheld night shots can be blurry. The 16MP front camera takes sharp selfies with good skin tones. Video recording is capped at 1080p at 30fps, which feels outdated compared to rivals offering 4K.

Battery

The Sparx S6 packs a 5,000mAh battery that easily lasts a full day of mixed use—social media, calls, and light gaming. In our test, the phone delivered 12 hours of screen-on time with moderate brightness and 5G enabled. Charging is where it disappoints: the included 20W charger takes about 2 hours to reach 100%, which is slow for a 5G phone in 2024. Sparx includes a USB-C cable, but no charger in the box—a common cost-cutting move.

Verdict

The Sparx S6 is a solid budget 5G phone that punches above its weight with a 120Hz AMOLED display and 50MP camera. It’s ideal for students, young professionals, and first-time 5G users who want a smooth experience without spending a fortune. The performance is reliable for daily tasks, and the battery life is impressive. However, the slow charging and average low-light photography hold it back. If you’re looking for a sub-Rs. 40,000 5G phone, the Sparx S6 is worth considering, but don’t expect flagship-level features.
