Body Mass Index (BMI) is a quick screen of whether your weight is in a healthy range for your height. It is calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. This tool gives your BMI, tells you which category it falls in, and shows the weight range that would be considered healthy for your height.

The standard bands are: under 18.5 underweight, 18.5–24.9 normal, 25–29.9 overweight, and 30 or above obese. BMI is a useful guide but not a diagnosis — it doesn't account for muscle, build or fat distribution, so a very muscular person can read "overweight" while being fit. Treat it as a starting point and speak to a doctor for a full assessment.

اکثر پوچھے گئے سوالات

How is BMI calculated?

BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². For example, 70 kg at 1.70 m is 70 ÷ (1.70 × 1.70) = 24.2, which is in the normal range.

What is a healthy BMI?

A BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered normal (healthy). Below 18.5 is underweight, 25–29.9 is overweight, and 30 or above is obese.

Is BMI accurate for everyone?

BMI is a general screen, not a diagnosis. It doesn't distinguish muscle from fat, so athletes may read high while being healthy. Use it as a guide and consult a doctor for a full picture.

What should my weight be for my height?

The healthy range is roughly the weights that give a BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 for your height. The calculator shows that range once you enter your height.
