With electricity tariffs high and sunshine plentiful, rooftop solar has become one of the best investments for Pakistani households. This calculator estimates the system size (in kW) you need from your monthly consumption, the likely installation cost, your monthly saving, and how many years until the system pays for itself.
The size is worked out as your monthly units divided by (peak sun hours × 30). Pakistan averages roughly 5 peak sun hours a day. With net metering, surplus units you export are credited against what you draw at night, improving the payback further. Panel quality, roof space, shading and your net-metering rate all affect the real numbers, so use this to plan and always get an on-site quote.
Divide your average monthly units by about 150 (5 peak sun hours × 30 days) to get the kW size, then divide by the panel wattage. For example, 600 units/month needs roughly a 4 kW system — about seven 580W panels.
Cost scales with size — this tool multiplies your kW size by a per-kW installed cost you enter (commonly around Rs. 130,000–170,000 per kW for a quality on-grid system). Prices change with the dollar and panel market, so confirm with installers.
Net metering lets your grid-tied solar system export surplus electricity to the grid during the day and draw it back at night, so you are billed only on your net usage. You apply through your distribution company (DISCO).
